IVY
IVY is a modular shelving system that grows on your wall according to your lifestyle. It can adapt to your environment and can evolve to live in different habitats. IVY grew out of a need to have a modular shelving system that can adapt to the users lifestyle changes. The goal of the project was to make it so that assembly and wall hanging of the shelves would be as effortless as possible.

Three different shelving systems were designed.
IVY allows the user to configure and reconfigure the assembled layout of the shelves with ease. Each user can create unique custom configurations utilizing as little or as many shelves as desired.
Each shelf is shipped in three pieces to minimize shipping size. Shelves are assembled at home using keyhole fasteners that are already integrated into the pieces.The same keyhole fasteners are also used to attach each shelf to the wall.
I made full size models of 2 of the 3 shelves to show a proof of concept of the keyhole fasteners, as well as materials and scale.
At the senior design show, I made lasercut magnets in the shapes of the 3 shelves that allowed people to arrange the pieces in their own custom configurations.
